Traditional Craftsmanship

Traditional craftsmanship concerns itself with the processing of different materials, such as wood, metal or fabric, as well as the manufacturing of a variety of objects, such as household aids, toys, clothing, jewellery or musical instruments.

Craftsmanship thereby focuses not so much on the safeguarding of these objects, but on the skills and expertise necessary for their fabrication. Essential in this respect is to maintain the preconditions for manual production, as well as the transmission of know-how to the successive generation.

Yet again, the goal of this domain of the intangible cultural heritage is the continuous passing down of knowledge and skills necessary to promote traditional craftsmanship.
